"Scholarly communication is very complex and interconnected process. There are many efforts globally to reinvent the scholarly communication process and fix its many deficiencies---I'm involved in one such project. But there are exactly zero efforts to think entirely outside the box on this issue, especially with regard to developing solutions that researchers need and want, that will align with incentives, and that are sustainable in the marketplace without constant oversight, regulation, and investment. For all these reasons and more, the Assured Science approach is worth exploring."
